I recently came across a fantastic article on Stylist about getting the most out of your allocated holiday allowance in 2018. You know how that one person in your office seems to always be on holiday even though their holiday allowance is exactly the same as yours. That’s because they’ve studied the calendar. Stylist discovered it is possible to get 24 days off in a row in 2018 using just 14 days’ of your holiday allowance – seems too good to be true!

So to make sure you get the most out of your holidays in 2018 book your annual leave now. Your first opportunity for ‘extended’ holiday is around the Easter holidays. Between March and April 2018 you can have 16 days work-free by using only 8 days of holiday, that’s even more time to spend munching those chocolate eggs. Good Friday falls on March 30th with Easter Monday on 2nd April so if you book 26th-29th and 3rd-6th off inclusive and end up with over 2 weeks off.

Now for the big one. It may seem daunting to use 14 days of your holiday allowance in one go however with 2 bank holidays in May at either end of the month (7th and 28th) you can almost have an entire month off from work, 24 days to be precise, so it’s easy to see how this will give you the best use of your allowance – think of what you could do with 24 days work-free; you could go on an epic holiday, learn a new skill, write a short-story or binge on some Netflix classics. The possibilities are endless!

Lastly, Christmas 2017 is just around the corner so it’s time to get your holiday request in for 2018 – I know it’s early but if your company doesn’t close over the holidays you need to beat the rush. With the Christmas and New Year bank holidays you can get 16 days off using just 6 days.

So there you have it, go forth and book your holidays! However, if you are finding that you are dreaming about time off then maybe it’s time for you to consider a change? Why not get in touch and see if we have that new exciting opportunity that will change your outlook from ‘work to live’ to ‘live to work’.
